A Room of 120 Bishop Vincent Mathews
A Room of 120 | Bishop Vincent Mathews
God has never needed a crowd.
He has always needed agreement.
In A Room of 120, Bishop Vincent Mathews teaches from Acts 1 and Acts 2 about the ordinary, imperfect people God gathered in the upper room and empowered to change the world.
Acts 1 tells us that about 120 people gathered together in prayer.
Not celebrities.
Not perfect people.
Not people with impressive credentials.
Peter had denied Jesus.
Thomas had doubted.
Jesus’ own brothers had once struggled to believe.
There were men and women from different backgrounds, experiences, personalities, and perspectives.
But they were all in one accord.
Unity did not mean they were all the same.
It meant they were all leaning in the same direction.
In this message:
• Why God uses ordinary and unlikely people
• The difference between a crowd and a roster
• Why God sees people others overlook
• Grace on the roster
• Peter’s restoration after failure
• Why your past does not cancel your assignment
• Unity without uniformity
• Why the church must make disciples, not clones
• Matthew the former tax collector and Simon the Zealot worshiping together
• What it means to be in one accord
• The purpose of Pentecost
• Why the Holy Spirit empowers believers for mission
• Why the upper room was preparation, not the final destination
• How 120 became 3,120 in one day
• Why the church must leave the room and reach the street
• Being the hands and feet of God in the community
• Why every believer has a role in the mission
The upper room was powerful.
There was wind.
There was fire.
There were tongues.
But the room was never the point.
The victory happened when they left the room.
One hundred twenty people received power, stepped into the streets, proclaimed Jesus, and 3,000 souls were added.
The church cannot measure success only by how many people gather.
We must also ask:
How many people are we reaching?
How many lives are being changed?
How many people are hearing the Gospel?
How many believers are leaving the room with boldness?
You are not forgotten.
You are not insignificant.
You are on God’s roster.
God does not only look at what you did last.
He sees what He is preparing to do through you next.
The question is not simply:
What happened in the room?
The question is:
What will happen because you left the room?
You are the crew.
Now go change the world.
