Winning the War in Your Mind | Bishop Vincent Mathews

What if the battle controlling your life is not happening around you, but inside your mind?

In Winning the War in Your Mind, Bishop Vincent Mathews teaches from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 about tearing down mental strongholds, taking thoughts captive, replacing lies with truth, and allowing the peace of God to guard your heart and mind.

Bishop Mathews opens with the true story of Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda, who continued fighting World War II for nearly 29 years after the war had already ended.

Why?

Because he continued obeying old orders.

Some of us are doing the same thing spiritually.

We are still responding to old trauma.

Old rejection.

Old fears.

Old family patterns.

Old labels.

Old grudges.

Old lies.

But Jesus declared, “It is finished.”

You do not have to keep fighting a war that Christ has already won.

IN THIS MESSAGE:

• 2 Corinthians 10 and pulling down strongholds

• Why the real battlefield is the mind

• How one thought can become a belief, then a stronghold

• Why strongholds often feel reasonable

• The connection between stress, unforgiveness, and the body

• Why words and rejection can affect us deeply

• The danger of repeatedly rehearsing painful memories

• Numbers 13 and the difference between grasshopper thinking and giant-slayer faith

• Caleb’s “Give me my mountain” mentality

• How to identify rogue and destructive thoughts

• Testing your thoughts against the Word of God

• Taking thoughts captive and bringing them to Christ

• Why forgiveness may begin as a decision before it becomes a feeling

• The danger of removing lies without replacing them with truth

• Philippians 4:8 and what believers should think about

• Lamentations 3 and intentionally recalling God’s faithfulness

• Philippians 4:6-7 and allowing God’s peace to guard your mind

Strongholds are usually not built overnight.

They are built one thought at a time.

“I’m not good enough.”

“Nobody likes me.”

“I’ll always be this way.”

“I’m too old.”

“My family has always been like this.”

“It’s too late for me.”

Repeated long enough, a thought becomes a belief.

A belief becomes a story.

And eventually that story becomes a prison.

But strongholds can come down.

Notice the thought.

Test it against Scripture.

Surrender it to God.

Answer it with the Word.

Repeat the process.

Then fill the empty space with truth.

Whatever is true.

Whatever is noble.

Whatever is just.

Whatever is pure.

Whatever is lovely.

Whatever is of good report.

Think on these things.

You do not have to live in the jungle of fear, bitterness, anxiety, rejection, and old lies.

The war is over.

Take your thoughts captive.

Renew your mind.

Walk into freedom.
