When Worlds Collapse Part 6: When Faith Becomes Dangerous | Bishop Vincent Mathews
What happens when following Jesus begins to cost you something?
In Part 6 of When Worlds Collapse, Bishop Vincent Mathews teaches from Matthew 24:9-14 and confronts a sobering reality: real faith is revealed under pressure.
Jesus said:
“They will hand you over for persecution… you will be hated by all nations because of My name.”
He then warns that many will become offended, betray one another, follow false prophets, tolerate lawlessness, and allow their love to grow cold.
But Jesus also gives this promise:
“The one who endures to the end will be delivered.”
IN THIS MESSAGE:
• Matthew 24:9-14 and persecution in the last days
• Why real faith is revealed under pressure
• The danger of believing faith guarantees an easy life
• Why suffering does not mean God has abandoned you
• Social and relational pressure against following Jesus
• Why believers must not silence themselves about the Gospel
• Remaining faithful when Christianity becomes unpopular
• The danger of replacing Kingdom allegiance with political, racial, or cultural identity
• Why offense can become spiritually destructive
• Betrayal and pressure from inside relationships
• The rise of false prophets
• Why supernatural knowledge alone does not prove someone is from God
• Testing spiritual voices against Scripture
• Lawlessness and the love of many growing cold
• How hypocrisy can cause people to become disillusioned with the Church
• Why believers must remain authentic instead of merely appearing religious
• Raising children as disciples of Jesus
• Enduring hardship without losing faith
• Why the Gospel must continue to be proclaimed
Christianity was never a promise that everything would be easy.
Jesus did not say:
Follow Me and nobody will misunderstand you.
Follow Me and everybody will like you.
Follow Me and suffering will disappear.
He said the opposite.
“All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”
Pressure reveals what is really inside us.
When faith costs nothing, it can remain theoretical.
But when faith costs reputation, relationships, opportunities, comfort, or acceptance, conviction becomes visible.
The question is not whether pressure will come.
The question is:
Will you still follow Jesus when it does?
Jesus also warns that pressure will not only come from outside.
People will become offended.
Relationships will fracture.
Some will betray one another.
False prophets will rise.
Lawlessness will increase.
And the love of many will grow cold.
That is why believers must stay rooted in truth.
Do not let disappointment make you cynical.
Do not allow hypocrisy to make you abandon Christ.
Do not confuse the failures of people with the faithfulness of God.
Do not exchange the Gospel for popularity.
And do not become ashamed of Jesus.
The world does not need Christians who merely know how to fit in.
It needs believers who know how to stand.
There will be trouble.
There will be pressure.
There may be persecution.
But God has not abandoned you in the fight.
Endure.
Remain faithful.
Keep loving.
Keep preaching Christ.
Keep raising disciples.
Keep standing on the Word.
And remember:
The size of the battle may be evidence that God trusts you to carry something greater.
