When Worlds Collapse Part 3: The Question That Changed Everything | Bishop Vincent Mathews

Before you can understand Jesus’ prophecy about the end times, you have to understand the question His disciples asked.

In Part 3 of When Worlds Collapse, Bishop Vincent Mathews walks through Matthew 24:1-3 and explains the three prophetic horizons contained in one of the most important questions in Scripture.

After Jesus leaves the temple, His disciples point out its magnificent buildings.

Jesus responds:

“Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

Later, on the Mount of Olives, the disciples privately ask Him:

“When will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

That question changes everything.

IN THIS MESSAGE:

• Why Matthew 24 must be understood in context

• The destruction of the Jerusalem Temple

• Why a building should never replace the presence of God

• The fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy concerning Jerusalem

• The three parts of the disciples’ question

• “When will these things be?”

• “What will be the sign of Your coming?”

• “What will be the sign of the end of the age?”

• The difference between the Rapture and the Second Coming

• Why prophecy unfolds across multiple horizons

• The Temple’s destruction in AD 70

• The ongoing “birth pains” of the last days

• Wars, deception, persecution, and increasing global instability

• Why signs do not automatically mean the end happens immediately

• The relationship between Matthew 24 and the seven seals of Revelation

• Why believers should reject date-setting

• Different Christian views of the timing of the Rapture

• Why readiness matters more than winning prophetic arguments

Bishop Mathews uses the picture of pregnancy and labor to explain Jesus’ prophecy.

Pregnancy has signs long before delivery.

As delivery approaches, contractions become stronger and closer together.

In the same way, Jesus describes conditions that characterize the age and intensify as history moves toward its conclusion.

The signs are not given so believers will panic.

They are given so believers will prepare.

Prophecy should not produce fear.

It should not produce endless speculation.

It should not send believers down every internet rabbit hole.

Biblical prophecy should produce:

Readiness.

Focus.

Discernment.

Endurance.

Jesus was not trying to make His disciples experts at predicting dates.

He was preparing them to remain faithful no matter what happened.

That remains the assignment of the Church today.

Do not be distracted.

Do not live in fear.

Do not allow every headline to control your emotions.

Understand what Jesus actually said.

Recognize the season.

Set your affection on things above.

And be ready whenever the King comes.
