Why are you coming at me like that? | Bishop Vincent Mathews
Why Are You Coming at Me Like That? | Bishop Vincent Mathews
Have you ever tried to help someone and they treated you like you were trying to hurt them?
Have you ever come in peace and somehow ended up in a battle?
This message is for everyone who has ever been misunderstood, misread, humiliated, or attacked when their intentions were good.
In this message, Bishop Vincent Mathews teaches from 2 Samuel 10 and the story of David, Hanun, and the ambassadors who were sent to bring comfort but were treated like enemies.
David sent kindness.
Hanun saw conspiracy.
David sent comfort.
Hanun responded with humiliation.
David sent peace.
Hanun prepared for war.
Sometimes battles do not begin because you did something wrong.
Sometimes battles begin because somebody read you wrong.
This message explores:
• What happens when good intentions are misunderstood
• Why you must be careful who advises you
• The danger of suspicious voices
• Why every believer is an ambassador for Christ
• Why rejection is not always personal
• How conformity can become the enemy of your calling
• Why everybody is not supposed to understand you
• How humiliation can affect identity
• Why spiritual recovery sometimes requires a Jericho season
• How God restores what has been damaged
• Why wounded people need time to heal
• Why believers should not repay evil for evil
• How God fights for His people while they recover
• Why you need people around you who will fight with you
• How to remain courageous when you feel surrounded
As ambassadors for Christ, we do not represent ourselves.
We represent the King.
That means every attack is not simply about you.
Sometimes the resistance comes because of who you represent.
Jesus warned His followers that they would be misunderstood, rejected, and opposed. The goal is not to make everyone like you.
The goal is to remain faithful to the King who sent you.
And when David heard what happened to his ambassadors, he did not tell them to pretend they were not hurt.
He told them to go to Jericho and recover.
Sometimes you need to heal before you return to the battle.
Jericho is not your destination.
It is your place of restoration.
What was cut can grow back.
What was exposed can be covered.
What was mocked can be restored.
What was humiliated can carry honor again.
Your beard is coming back.
Your joy is coming back.
Your peace is coming back.
Your strength is coming back.
Your confidence is coming back.
And while you are recovering, the King is not ignoring what happened.
He is fighting.
This message reminds us that vengeance belongs to God. We do not have to become evil because someone treated us badly.
We can heal.
We can forgive.
We can recover.
And when the time comes, we can return stronger.
You are not staying in shame.
You are healing from shame.
It is a comeback.
