TABERNACLE BIBLE READING PLAN — 2026

Why This Reading Plan Matters

A note from Bishop Vincent E. Mathews, Jr.

The Word of God is like steel in concrete—it makes you spiritually resilient, able to withstand
immense pressure without collapsing. At the same time, the Word of God works like a spiritual
cleanser. It flushes out things you didn’t even realize were inside of you—unhealthy thoughts,
buried emotions, toxic patterns, and unresolved trauma.
This reading plan is not about information alone.
It is about transformation.
To help you along the way, I have provided simple guiding notes for each month—not to
replace the Scripture, but to help focus your reading and highlight why each book matters for this
season. If we are to reach the heights the Lord has for us, we must consistently bathe in the
Word to remain clean, clear, and aligned.
As you read, don’t rush. Apply the Word to your own life, your family, your decisions, and your
challenges. Watch as God illuminates your heart and renews your mind through His Word.
My prayer is that this plan strengthens you, steadies you, and prepares you to advance in every
area of life.
— Bishop Vincent E. Mathews, Jr.

JANUARY

Gospel of John (Chapters 1–10)

We begin the year slowly in the Gospel of John because we are also beginning Bible Study in this great book. John allows the Word to wash your spirit and soul as the year starts. You will see Jesus clearly—His miracles, His compassion, His relationships, and His divinity. This month grounds us in the truth that Jesus is God, and knowing Him changes everything.

FEBRUARY

Gospel of John (Chapters 11–21)

We continue in John to focus on the Cross, the Resurrection, and the mission of Christ. This section shows us what love looks like in action and what victory truly means. As you read, let your faith deepen and your commitment mature.

MARCH

Book Of Joshua

Our theme this year is ADVANCE, and Joshua shows us how God’s promises are possessed through faith and obedience. This book records the military conquest of the Promised Land and reminds us that God’s promises require movement. May this month inspire you to step forward boldly for yourself and your family.

APRIL

Book Of Judges

Judges is a sobering reminder that possessing promises is not enough—we must live out our faith before the next generation. This book warns us what happens when people follow “their own truth” instead of God’s way. May your blessings never become a curse, and may we have the courage of the judges who stood for the nation.

MAY

Book Of Ephesians

During spring consecration, Ephesians grounds us in the core teachings of the early church. It speaks to marriage, work, family, unity, and spiritual warfare. This book answers a critical question: How do we advance and prosper in a chaotic society?

JUNE

Books Of 1 Peter & 1 Timothy

These two short but powerful letters focus on Christian character and leadership.  Peter teaches us how to live holy lives in a hostile culture, while Timothy reminds us of sound doctrine and integrity.
Every believer needs these truths firmly planted.

JULY

Book Of Nehemiah

Nehemiah is a powerful story of restoration.
Jerusalem was broken, but God used a faithful servant to rebuild it.
This book will strengthen you and inspire innovative thinking as you rebuild your life, your family, or even your city.

AUGUST

Book Of 1 Corinthians

First Corinthians addresses real challenges in the church—division, immorality, pride, and disorder. This book reminds us that problems are real, but they are not final. As a church family, may we rise higher and walk in maturity.

SEPTEMBER

Books Of Amos & Hosea

These prophetic books are strong and sobering. They call God’s people back to justice, faithfulness, and covenant love. Educated or uneducated, rich or poor—this message is for everyone.

OCTOBER

Book Of Hebrews

In a season when culture glorifies darkness, Hebrews declares the absolute superiority of Jesus Christ. He is greater than every angel, demon, or spiritual power. This book assures us that following Christ is not weakness—it is victory.

NOVEMBER

Book Of Jeremiah

Jeremiah speaks to anyone who desires to make a real stand in the world. Obedience is rarely popular, but it is always right. This book calls us to remain faithful to God regardless of pressure or opposition.

DECEMBER

Book Of Romans (Chapters 1–8, 12)

We end the year in Romans—not traditional Christmas passages, but deep gospel truth. This book explains salvation, freedom in Christ, and life in the Spirit. It prepares us to enter the new year grounded, confident, and spiritually strong.

JANUARY 2027

Book of Romans (Chapters 9–11, 13–16)

We complete Romans by focusing on God’s sovereignty, Christian ethics, and community life. This continuation ensures the book is not rushed and that its full impact is felt.
